Uberman day 9

Perhaps the oversleeping incident wasn’t as crippling as I thought. Staying awake this morning was really difficult, so I took another run. But then I was too exhausted to move. I slept like a lead baby during all of my naps, even one that I took on a friend’s couch, which was only slightly awkward: “Dude, I can’t play Guitar Hero anymore, I need to crash on your couch for 20 minutes while you leave me alone, alright?”

I’ve had enough energy to function all day, but I’m definitely sleepy. I even needed my backup super-loud computer alarm to wake up during my 5:30pm. It’s a bad sign that I’m out that cold with the sun up. I’m worried that with the sun down I could sleep through anything.

It’s really important that I don’t slip up again tonight, because if I sleep again for a long period of time I think I’ll condition myself to be monophasic. Fortunately I’ve got a project to keep me going this time: packing up for college. I leave tomorrow morning. I’m really excited to see how uberman’ll play out in that environment. The next fun challenge is to figure out when to take my naps during the trip. I can sleep my 5:30 before we leave the house and I’ll already be on the plane at 9:30 tomorrow, but in the new time zone the next nap is at 12:30 and I might not be able to get to my dorm in time. I might have to delay the nap for a bit, because I don’t like the prospect of sleeping in the middle of the caltrain station with all my junk.

I felt pretty bad about having to go and take a shower in the next room, but it’s actually kind of funny that you didn’t even know until after I told you.
