I am back to square one… I wasn’t able to fall asleep during half of my naps. I feel pretty good, but I pretty much feel the same as I did the first day I started. I’m going to stick with it. I think the structure of life at school will work better in terms of establishing a daily rhythm and keeping me busy. Honestly a vacation is probably the worst time you can try to adjust to something like this, unfortunately it’s the only time you can afford to be ridiculously sleepy for three days on end. Well I guess good news for my friends back at school is you can all laugh while watching me try to move in and start classes on 3 days worth of sleep debt.
We went out and bought a couple kitchen timers for nap-taking on the go at school. I think they’re louder than my cell phone, so we’ll see if that works out. Currently I’m setting one of those for my get-up time and following it up with a timer set a minute later on my computer hooked up to some speakers on full volume. I’ve always woken up in time to turn that one off before it goes off, but we’ll see what happens tonight.
I realized today that this is pretty much the hardest thing I have ever attempted to do in my life. I don’t think I’ve ever been this determined and dedicated to achieving something and still not get it after 3 weeks (if you include my last attempt.) Usually after this much trouble I would decide that whatever I’m trying to do is either impossible or not worth it… most people would apply that to my uberman situation. Hm, guess that means I’m not sane, but you all knew that.
While I didn’t actually fall asleep during my 1:30 pm or 9:30 pm nap, I kind of fell into a state where I started seeing images. While I was aware that I was in bed, it was almost as if I were participating in my dreams, and it had some of the same restorative effect. It was like a half-awake lucid dream.
Alright, time to start a huge project. During my internship over the Summer, I went to an open source programming get-together and someone from Google came and handed out free android phones. Pretty sweet! So I guess I’ll try to write a mobile game, the other thing I’ve been wanting to try is a shooter or racing game.
