Uberman Day 11

So it turns out College isn’t as structured as I thought. While certainly better than vacation, there are random meetings and things that pop up, and people tend to assume that you are free at 12:00  or 4:00 pm. It’s usually too weird to explain polyphasic sleep to anyone who asks, so I often dodge direct answers… Though, I’m usually happy to brag about my eccentricities to anyone with an open mind.

My daytime naps aren’t working at all. It’s such a loud and high-energy environment that I’m unable to ground myself and fall asleep like I would at home. I hope I get accustomed to it soon because I’m afraid that if I loose too many naps, a zombie may rise to take my place… several days of sleep debt is probably not the way to make a positive impression during an audition.

On the other hand, my 4:30 am nap was fabulously successful. For the first time, I woke up automatically after 20 minutes feeling a weird tinge of energy.

Whatever my body is doing to get used to uberman, it’s doing some strange things to my memory. I feel like my short term memory gets cleared or reset every time I take a nap, which makes me suffer half a minute of amnesia when I wake up. I’m never sure what time it is, how I got there, or whether or not I had fallen asleep, and it takes me about a minute before I’m normal again. This has been particularly amusing to my roommate, who enjoys hearing the delusional ramblings of freshly awoken me.
